Professor Oktay Aslanapa
أستاذ أوكتاي Aslanapa
Born in Turkey in 1914, he was awarded a BA in history, philosophy and geography by Istanbul University. He travelled to Europe to specialise in Turkish Islamic arts and received his PhD from Vienna University in 1943 . He then became a professor at the department of Turkish Islamic Arts at Istanbul University, where he still teaches MA and PhD courses as well as at Mimar Sinan University. He wrote The Arts of Turkish People and their Architecture which was published in English and translated into Arabic. He has many published research papers and has received numerous awards in recognition of his extensive professional achievements.
